Obituary for James S. Harper

DURHAM: James S. Harper, 96, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Concordia Transitional Care and Rehabilitation- Rose Manor. He was born in Durham, the son of the late Sam Dee Harper and Lonie Pendergrass Harper. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harper is also predeceased by his wife, Helen Waller Harper.

Mr. Harper was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

Mr. Harper is survived by his daughter, Jamie Riley (Johnny); son, Tommy Harper (Bonnie); grandchildren, Josh Harper, Chad Riley, Todd Riley, Stephen Riley, Karen Harper; and great-grandchildren, Shaina Riley, Ashley Riley, Emmrie Riley, Ridge Riley, Maci Harper, Clayden Barbour.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 5th at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 pm prior the service at the church. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
