BAHAMA: Kenneth Milton Davenport “Ken”, 72, of Bahama, North Carolina passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born October 15, 1945 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Milton and Treva (Briggs) Davenport. Ken married his high school sweetheart, Carol Lowder, on December 18, 1966 in Winston-Salem. Both were graduates of N. Forsyth High School. Ken attended Wingate College then received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1968. Ken worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield NC from 1969 to 1996. From there he worked at the NC Hospital Association for an extended time and retired in 2010. Ken developed many professional and personal relationships throughout the healthcare industry, and he treasured those friendships for many years.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 51 years. He is also survived by 3 children: Jason (Faye) Davenport, Jill (Charles) Dorman, and Emily (Daniel) Wilkie. Ken had created a wonderful legacy with 5 grandchildren, Melissa and Macey Davenport, Tanner Dorman, and Evan and Owen Wilkie; and 1 great-grandchild, Reese Moody. Ken is also survived by 1 sister, Kay (Davenport) Walker; and brother-in-law, Vernon Walker.

Ken was a member of McMannen United Methodist Church for greater than 40 years. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends, spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Ken was a true people person whose greater than life personality could fill up any room.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 14th at McMannen United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church for a reception.
