Obituary for Isaac "Ike" Emerson Murray, Jr.

DURHAM: Ike Murray, Jr., 92, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at his home in Durham.

Ike was born on January 24, 1926 in Durham, the son of the late Isaac Emerson Murray, Sr. and Tula Blanche Nichols Murray. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel Hollinghead Murray; his sister, Elizabeth Murray Folger; his brothers, John and Lee Murray; and a niece, Kathryn Murray Feimster. Ike is survived by a brother, Jack Murray of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Ike was a 1944 graduate of Durham High School, and a 1948 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was the long-time owner/operator of Durham Brazing and Welding Works, along with his twin brothers, John and Lee. Ike was a member of the Durham Rotary Club and the Durham Engineers Club.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, April 9th at Maplewood Cemetery.
