Obituary for Mary Frances Overaker Bateman

The most beautiful of spirits and the sweetest of souls, Mary Frances Overaker Bateman, 75, passed away peacefully from this earth on November 30, 2018 and gained her reward in heaven. A native of Hillsborough, Frances loved the Lord, her family and buying/selling antiques.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Lockamy (Tim) of Roxboro and Kathy Palmer (Manley) of Hurdle Mills. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Brandon Grasty, Ashley Slaughterbeck, Trey Palmer and Gray Palmer along with great-granddaughters Grace Grasty and Palmer Slaughterbeck. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Sarah) Overaker. Her husband, Gary Bateman, passed away in 2007 and her great-granddaughter Faith Grasty passed away in 2017.

Frances was one of the most giving persons one could know and would go without for the sake of her family and friends. She spent the last 20 years of her life collecting and selling primitive antiques and working part-time at the Daniel Boone Antique Mall where she was constantly surrounded by the love of her friends. She lived a simple life full of love.

A memorial service will take place Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 6:30 pm at New Hope Church in Hillsborough. The family will receive visitors after the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Durham or Chapel Hill.
