DURHAM: Mr. Arnold Leroy “Roughouse” Rose, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, after an extended illness. He was born in Durham, the son of the late John Wesley Rose and the late Eva Guess Rose. Mr. Rose was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a loving father, husband and Papa. Mr. Rose was an avid sports fan and an ACC official, referee and umpire for over 55 years. He was a man of God since 1961 and it showed all through his life. Mr. Rose touched many people’s lives, giving his testimony whenever he could. He was preceded in death by brothers, Dewey Rose and Johnny Rose; and a sister, Louise Woods.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Rose; three children, Sharon Rhoden, Jimmy Rose (Carla) and Leroy Rose, Jr. (Debby); five grandkids, Adam, Samantha, Kelly, Ashley and Mike; four great grandkids, Gabriel, Katelynn, Allyson and Cameron; a sister, Mary Ruth Whitaker; and a brother, Winifred Rose (Ruby).

The family will receive friends Friday 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church and other times at the home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Youmans and Pastor Derek Ketner officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
