Life Legacy


CHAPEL HILL: Mrs. Judith Goodhand, 80, died early Thursday at Clare Bridge of Chapel Hill. Mrs. Goodhand was born in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of the late Russell Hobbs and the late Helen Moran Hobbs.

She had an extensive career in social work and children's services, holding leadership positions in Knox County, Lucas County and Cuyahoga County, Ohio. She was also a consultant for the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Jordan Institute for Families, and served on the faculty at the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Goodhand is survived by a son, David Goodhand; three daughters, Lynne Goodhand, Kathleen Goodhand and Megan Goodhand; a brother, Jim Hobbs, a sister, Gretchen Herbert; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013, 2:00pm, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Larry Hayes presiding.
