Life Legacy


DURHAM: Mr. Philip Joseph Sorrentino, 82, died early Friday at Brookshire Nursing Center. Mr. Sorrentino was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Annunziata D’Andria Sorrentino and the late Giuseppe Salvatore Sorrentino. He served in the US Army. Mr. Sorrentino was a Bronze Star recipient. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was employed by Nortel. Since then he has enjoyed bowling and traveling. Mr. Sorrentino was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Frances Mauceri Sorrentino; a son, Philip Joseph Sorrentino, Jr.; and sisters, Anna Tortorelli and Ernestine Cianca.

Mr. Sorrentino is survived by a daughter, Jane Nancy Sorrentino of Carthage, NC; his fiancée, Gloria Babel of Hillsborough; daughter-in-law, Faye S. Warmbrod; a sister, Martha Costa of Queens, NY; two nieces, Camille Cianca of Fort Lauderdale and Gerilyn Mauceri Falzon of Amityville, NY; and nephews, Paul Tortorelli of Tobyhanna, PA, Arthur Tortorelli of NJ, Jeffrey Totorelli of Forest Hills, NY, Christopher Costa of Long Island, NY, Ed Costa of Long Island, NY, Kenneth Costa of Queens, NY, and John Mauceri of San Diego, CA.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday 1:30 p.m. at Markham Memorial Gardens in Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TROSA, 1820 James St., Durham, NC 27707.
The family would like to thank the staff of Duke University Medical Center, Durham Regional Hospital, and Brookshire Nursing Center for the skilled and compassionate care Phil received during the course of his illness.
In addition, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our most beloved family and friends for the enduring love and support we received during this difficult journey.
