Obituary for Louise Adele Underwood

DURHAM-- Louise Adele Underwood, 95, passed away on November 3, 2017. She was born in Nashville, TN to Hendley Stone and Berta Reynolds and moved to Durham, NC in 1941 to enter Watts Hospital medical training. Here she married Charles Hubert Underwood in 1942 and lived as mother of three and medical technologist at Watts Hospital, Durham Medical Clinic, and Durham Regional Hospital over the course of the next 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting, all kinds of sewing, knitting and needle work. She loved her roots in Nashville and traveling to the mountains of TN and the beaches of NC. She was a member of First Baptist Church and later attended Westwood Baptist Church of Durham.

Adele was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Altman and Stone Jr, and her daughter Nancy Eloise Atwood.

Adele is survived by two sons, Kenneth Charles in California and Larry Reynolds (Nancy Lou) in Raleigh; five grandchildren, Chad (Tammy), Kimberly (Jake), Anna, Bryan (Missy), and Michael; and great-grandchild, Brandon.

Visitation will be held at Clements Funeral Home in Durham on Thursday, November 9th at 1 pm followed by a chapel service at Clements at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
