Obituary for Linwood William "Bill" Johnson, Jr.

ROUGEMONT: Linwood William “Bill” Johnson, Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at his home in Rougemont. He was born in Durham to the late Linwood William Johnson, Sr. and Minnie Ruth Thaxton Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, Joseph Mark Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a retired carpenter with the Durham County Public School System and was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was known for his strong faith in Christ and his commitment to helping others. Mr. Johnson was also a skilled wood worker and thoroughly enjoyed doing projects for friends and family.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Ann Johnson; sons, Tom Bowen (Lynn), Ricky Bowen; daughter, Pam Green (Kelly); sister, Becky Brogden; and grandchildren, Jordan Cox, Emily Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Jeremy Bowen, Matthew Bowen (Kim), Daniel Bowen, Andy Green, Scott Green.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, July 25 at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 26 at Red Mountain Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Red Mountain Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 103, Rougemont, NC 27572.
