Obituary for Lewis W. Ford

ROUGEMONT: Lewis W. Ford, 75, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at his home in Rougemont. He was born in Durham, the son of the late Elmo Lewis Ford and Ruth Evelyn Browning Ford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers.

Mr. Ford retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service. He worked as a mechanic at Motor Bearings in Durham and he drove a truck for West Brothers Trucking. Mr. Ford was a member of Duke’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Patricia H. Ford; step-daughter, Andrea Gruber; step-son, Robert L. Paffel, Jr.; grandchildren, David Gruber (Emily Coleman), Lindy Paffel; great-grandchildren, Robert Dylan Gruber, Shaun Ryan Gruber, Natalie Brooke Gruber; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Joyce Pendergrass (Ronnie) and brother-in-law, Lonnie Hill, Jr (Carroll).

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 28 at Little River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles Link officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1pm. Burial will follow the services in Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
