Obituary for Leila T. Veasey

DURHAM: Leila Veasey 92, passed away on Sunday, March, 11, 2018 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham. She was born in Durham to the late Hancel Clyde Taylor and Annie West Taylor. She was also predeceased in death by her husband, Luther R. Veasey; sisters, Mary T. Coley, Sarah T. Conrad and Frankie T. Harris; and a brother, William Taylor.

Mrs. Veasey is survived by her daughters, Beth Pleasant and Laura V. Wilmer and husband Dr. Bert Wilmer; son-in-law, Howard Pleasant; her twin sister, Lella T. Dezern; three grandchildren, Chip Wilmer and wife Mary Ann, Meredith McCowan and husband Justin, Joshua Pleasant and wife Kourtney; great-grandchildren, Luke and J.D. Wilmer, Bryson and Beckett McCowan. The family would especially like to thank her devoted caregivers, Freda Gabbert and Teresa McCowan.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will follow at 12:00 noon in the Gathering Room at Clements Funeral Home, Durham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Duke Memorial UMC, 504 W. Chapel Hill St., Durham, NC 27701.
