Obituary for Jonathan Poag

MEBANE: Jonathan G. Poag, 43, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, after a year and a half long battle with sarcoma. He was born in Grafton County, New Hampshire, the son of the late Patricia Ann Huffstetler Poag and the surviving Gervis Lee Poag.

Jon graduated from Cummings Senior High School, June 1992. He served as a U.S. Army Medic from September 1992 – March 1998, and received an honorable discharge. Jon was employed as a Route Supervisor for S&D Coffee and Tea, for the past 10 years.

In addition to his father, Mr. Poag is survived by his sister Paige Poag-King, brothers Jamie Poag and DeWayne Poag, son Ian A. Poag, fiancé Cheri Brignon, and former wife, Melissa Nelson.

An informal gathering will be held to celebrate Jon’s life at Cedarock Park, 4242 R Dean Coleman Rd, Burlington on Saturday, January 27th, at 2:00pm. Please meet at the parking lot by the main restrooms to walk in together to a designated location. Attendees are welcome to join the family afterwards at Hursey’s BBQ, 1234 S. Main Street, Graham.
