Obituary for Jessamine Thomason Garrard

DURHAM – Jessamine Thomason Garrard, 88, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Duke University Hospital. She was born in Durham, the daughter of the late James Andrew Thomason and Essie Locklear Thomason. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sister, Etoy Thomason Ruebling; and brothers, Emory Thomason, Harlton “Tweet” Thomason.

Mrs. Garrard was a daycare director at Kid’s Kountry and she was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Garrard is survived by her husband, Victor Graham Garrard; son, Victor Dale Garrard and wife, Sandra; granddaughter, Danielle Leigh Garrard; great-grandson, Branson Lee Pope; and nieces, Wanda Lou Mitchell, Cheryl Amadon.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, August 11 at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 12 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
