Obituary for James "Jim" MacLaurin

DURHAM: James "Jim" MacLaurin, born November 30, 1942 in Paterson, New Jersey passed away at the Season at Southpoint in Durham on Sunday, October 8, 2017. James lived most of his life in Canton, Connecticut before moving to North Carolina 11 years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon W. MacLaurin; daughter, Dr. Nancy A. MacLaurin; son-in-law, D. Ashley Cowan; son, Peter A. MacLaurin and wife, Corey J. MacLaurin; and 5 grandchildren. James was predeceased by his parents, Carl P. and Geraldine MacLaurin; and a daughter, Bonnie J. MacLaurin.

After serving in the Air Force, James returned to Connecticut where he resided and worked for the Town of Canton in the Parks and Recreation Department.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Faggart officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

The family would like to thank everyone who has shown them support and special thanks to the Seasons at Southpoint for the loving care they have provided in his final years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church: 1320 Umstead Rd, Durham, NC 27712; or to a charity of your choice.
