Obituary for Gracie Louise Taylor

VIRGINIA-- Gracie Louise Taylor, age 90, of Fairfax, Virginia, and formerly of Durham, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home before being taken to !nova Fair Oaks Hospital Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

She was born on April 6, 1927 in Durham, the daughter of the late Charles P. and Mattie (Williams) Medlin. She was retired from the Naval Investigative Service Headquarters after 23 years as a Supervisory Security Specialist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Taylor; one brother, William (Bill) Medlin; four sisters, Arnette Hicks, Velma Moser, Dorothy Southerland and Nellie Medlin; and her dearest best friend Barbara Siron.

Survivors include her daughter, Maurica G. Rodgers and husband George of Manassas, VA; three grandchildren, Shelley C. Dye and husband Donald, Burton Jay Rodgers and wife Tara, Jerry M. Rodgers and wife Stacey and children, Nolan Rodgers, Hayden Rodgers, great-grandchildren Wyatt T. Dye, Lilly A. Rodgers, Cody J. Rodgers; sister-in-law, Pat Couch; brother-in-law, Willie Taylor; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends she loved.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, April, 21, 2017at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Durham with Pastor Eric Burmahl. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Clements Funeral Home, Durham.
