Obituary for Gerald Winston Fisher

HILLSBOROUGH: Gerald Winston Fisher, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home in Hillsborough. He was born in Durham, the son of the late George Troy Fisher and Mary Evelyn Fisher. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fisher was also preceded in death by his brothers, George Fisher, J. Edwin Fisher, Gordan T. Fisher, Daniel D. Fisher; sister, Shirley F. Honeycutt; and grandson, Derrick Fisher.

Mr. Fisher was retired as an electrician having worked at Northern Telecom and North Duke Hospital. He attended Durham City Schools; was a charter member of the Amran Shrine, 32 degree Master Mason and Past Master of Eagle Lodge #19 A.F.&A.M. Mr. Fisher enjoyed studying and teaching new members of the lodge. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the etiquette of the game.

Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Sue Mann Fisher; daughters, Susan Denice Fisher (Vernon); son, Gerald Neal Fisher (Melissa), Emily Dawn Fisher-Ray (David): brother, Richard A. Fisher; grandchildren, Troy Jones, Dustin Fisher, Brandon Fisher, Brittany Fisher, Megan Fisher, Tristan Fisher, Abby Hicks, Jonathan Ray, Amber Honaker, Joshua Ray; and great-grandchildren, Madeline Jones, Trey Jones, Sadie Trembley, Jada Ray; special nephew, Jason W. Mann; sister-in-law, Carol M. Lane, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be, Edward Sykes, Johnny Sigmon, Troy Jones, Trey Jones, David Ray and Joshua Ray.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, March 14th at Clements Funeral Home in Hillsborough. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday with Pastor John Gaither officiating, March 15th at Clements Funeral Chapel in Hillsborough. Burial will follow the service with Military Honors and Masonic Graveside Rites by Eagle Lodge #19 A.F.&A.M. in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Mr. Fisher’s memory to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
