DURHAM: George David Marshburn, 61, was transported into the presence of his loving Savior after he finally won his long battle with gastric cancer on Tuesday March 21, 2017 at his home. David fought a good fight, finished the race, kept the faith, and is now embracing his exceedingly great reward in Heaven.
David was an accomplished and well-loved man. His wife Jennifer of 44 years was inseparable from him. They were a nature loving, adventure seeking unit. He cherished his children and grandchildren the same. David is survived by his wife, Jennifer Marshburn; daughters, Lynn White (Bryan White), Laura Clark (Bryan Clark); son, Kevin Marshburn(Christina); grandchildren, Brittany White, Joshua White, McKenzie White, Maddox Clark, Luke Clark, and Lily Clark; sister, Evangeline Ritch and brothers, Jimmy Marshburn, Danny Marshburn(Debbie) and Steve Marshburn. To his grandchildren he was known as the amazing Papa.
As a beloved pastor at Grace Community Assembly of God in Smithfield, he led his congregation in the belief that God is an all loving, faithful and hope giving God. He also served many years in the ministry of Royal Rangers. His life and ministry were a testament to the love of Christ.
He set a God fearing example for his family and exited this life victoriously. He is embracing His Lord and the presence of his Mom, Dad, Granddaddy Sam, and Grandma Christine. His greatest joy would be to see all join him there.
There will be a visitation at Clements Funeral Home in Durham on Saturday, March 25th from 6:00-8:00p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be at Raleigh First Assembly on Sunday, March 26th at 4:00p.m. with Rev. Randall Rodgers and Rev. Chad Harvey officiating. The family will be at the church 1 hour before the service to greet friends. At other times, the family will receive friends and visitors in the home.
