Obituary for Derek Campbell

DURHAM: Derek Campbell, 46, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at his home. Mr. Campbell was born in Alliance, OH, the son of Theresa Schwartzhoff Campbell and the late Joseph Campbell.

Derek was a loving father, devoted husband and son and a generous friend. He was a creative and talented individual. His humor and enthusiasm were contagious. He loved spending time with his family, his wife and especially his sons sharing his love of music, sports and just having fun. Derek loved his UNC teams even as a child and although he hadn’t lived there for many years he never strayed far from his love of Cleveland sports teams and his beloved alma mater the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In addition to his mother, Derek is survived by his wife, Laura Anne Campbell; sons, Isaac Tait Campbell, Jacob Joe Campbell; sister, Heather Campbell-Miller and husband Patrick; nephew, Cooper Miller; nieces, Elle Miller, Madeline Miller; mother and father-in-law, James and Jane Tait; sister-in-law, Jennifer Johnson and husband Todd; and nieces, Paige Johnson, Camryn Johnson.
