DURHAM: Carol Rose Barnhill, 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Treyburn Rehabilitation Center. She was born and raised in Durham, the daughter of the late Robert and Delores Rose.
She was a 1960 graduate of Durham High School. Mrs. Barnhill was a former longtime member of Glendale Heights UMC and a current member of Grey Stone Church. She was an avid lover of music and was a member of Glendale Heights UMC Church Choir, Grey Stone Church Choir and the Durham Choral. She was also an active member of the Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club for many years, volunteer for Ronald McDonald Family Room at Duke, and Meals on Wheels. She was a devoted caregiver to her many elderly friends and family. Mrs. Barnhill retired in 1999 from Durham Internal Medicine and was also a longtime employee of John’s Flower Shoppe.
Mrs. Barnhill is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Turner Barnhill, Jr.; daughter, Libby Brown and husband, Mark; sons, Jimmy Barnhill and wife, Carla, Todd Barnhill and wife, Kristen; sisters, Ann Cole Brown and husband, Gary, Betsy Terrett and husband, Ken; brother, Ed Rose and wife, Linda; sisters-in-law, Dahl Jones and husband, Ken, Terri Ray and husband, David; and grandchildren, Kathryn Marshall, Kelly and Will Brown, Emily, Isaac, and Madelyn Barnhill, and Cade, Kyle, and Kate Barnhill.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 21st at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 23rd at Grey Stone Church with Dr. Clay Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
