DURHAM: Carmela P. Samson, 73, passed away at UF Health in Jacksonville, FL on Sunday, March 19, 2017. She was born in Luzerne Co., PA to the late Angelo and Mary Vigo. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by sister, Maria Seitz.

Mrs. Samson is survived by her husband, Reeve Samson; daughters, Beth Aubrey and husband, Colin, Kelly Ivan and husband, Ben; son, Reeve Samson and wife, Carey; grandchildren, Hayden Aubrey, Jeremy Ivan, Kaitlyn Ivan, Zachery Samson, Carson Samson; brother, Joseph Vigo; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Toni Viavattine and her son, Gareth.

Carmela was a person of limitless love, generosity, and forgiveness for her family and every other person she encountered. Those who knew her well admired her devotion to her faith and the Church. She loved all things Disney, with a very special affection for Figment and It's a Small World. During her spare time she enjoyed reading, cross-stitching, watching NCIS (Over & Over), spending days with Reeve and their Triumph Club friends, and traveling with her family to all parts of the world. She was a 22 year breast cancer survivor and had a special bond with others affected. She cherished her children beyond words and her grandchildren held a special place in her daily life. She loved watching their recreational activities and participating in their school events. She will forever be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Saturday, March 25th 2 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Social Hall.
