Obituary for Benjamin "B.F." Paschall

DURHAM: Benjamin B.F. Paschall, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2017. He was born in Durham, NC, November 20, 1925 to the late Benjamin F. Paschall, Sr. and Fannie Bette Cash Paschall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his bothers, Ralph Paschall, Onnis Paschall, and Paul Paschall.

Mr. Pachall is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.

He was educated in The Catholic and Durham County schools. Benjamin lived all of his adult life in the Bahama area where he farmed with his uncle, Buren and aunt, Sallie Mangum. He worked for a short time in construction.

Benjamin served in the U.S. Army during The Korean War; he was stationed in Korea in a MASH unit from March 5, 1952 until he was discharged on March 5, 1954. He received 3 Bronze Stars and was very proud to have served his county.

He enjoyed deep sea fishing, the outdoors, horse racing, and also enjoyed visiting with friends at the county stores.

We have many thanks to the Durham VAMC for the care that he received there over the many years. Each time he was there they always thanked him for his service plus they were kind and compassionate, also we thank Liberty Hospice for their care and especially Susan Betze, R.N. Also, we thank the staff at Eno Pointe Assisted Living for their care from his admission in March 2014 until his death.

Visitation is at Ellis Chapel Church from 1:30-2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10th. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will include Van Duke, Landis Wilson, Terry Mangum, Floyd Walker, Mike Pickard, and Rodney Rhew. Following the services, family and friends will gather in the fellowship hall at the church.
